The two main purposes of this level are to get children in this age group interested in the game of baseball and to begin preparing them for the next level which is 9U. The season starts with an introduction at the beginning of the season. It is our goal to provide everyone involved in the sport with a positive experience. This is accomplished by promoting active participation during practices and games. By providing players with the necessary fundamental skills during practices and games we help develop their individual and team skills; ensuring they enjoy their baseball experience.
The teams will play 2 evenings per week from 6 pm - 730 pm. The objectives at this level are to focus on teaching proper throwing mechanics, fielding grounding balls, catching, hitting, and base running. Through active participation, players will continue to develop their personal and team skills. Each Rally Cap team will consist of 6-9 players per team; this will make the innings go by quicker, keeping players active. Parent participation is mandatory in Rally Cap. Please expect to help on the field assisting with drills during practice and positioning players during the game.
Rally Cap utilizes a combination of coach pitch (primarily) and a batting tee if the player cannot hit 3-5 balls pitched by the coach. By the end of the season, most players are hitting off of the coach every time. Each day (Monday and Wednesday) from 6:00-7:30pm will consist of skill development (practice) followed by a mini-game where all players hit and all players field with guidance from coaches for positioning and strategy.
